why do you blog?

Photobucket

I blog because I enjoy creating.
I blog so I can break the 4th wall between me and my thoughts.
I blog to surprise you with a visual and verbal treat each time you come.
I blog as a means to update the people around me on what has been happening in my life and the things I find fascinating.
I blog so I can have an organized timeline of thoughts (especially the drafts).
I blog as a way to express my impromptu dashes of creativity.
I blog because not everyday is the same!

Looks familiar?

Refer to "Why do you blog panmanman?" published at my on 07/08/2010

i blog because i want to make people smile/laugh even for just a second
i blog because sometimes i've neglected it for so long
i blog because i'm nagged into it
i blog because i want to be a subtle encouragement for others to blog so i can find out more about what's going on in their life
i blog because i can take a trip down memory lane in the future
i blog because it's a nice way to vent
i blog because not every day is the same !

Which leads me to the reintroduction of a new formspring where you can ask me questions under the guise of anonymous or a familiar name. These questions can be simple or complex and it is entirely up to you but if it is personal why not ask me in person? Although this does remind me of the answer Felix gave when I asked him why I'm hard to approach; "because you're super chilled".

Bonjour monsieur/madame, je m'appelle William et je suis désolé je parle très peu français mais il parle français.
Attendez un moment s'il vous plaît.

Redirecting French customers with my broken French learnt off a colleague has been enlightening.

"A tribute to Ridley Scott and Vangelis, whose atmospheric work on Blade Runner has been a huge source of inspiration in my shooting time lapses, as well as for entire generations of filmmakers. I hope this will make many of you want to revisit (or discover if you haven't yet) this genre-defining movie."

Shot roughly over a year in Tokyo with a Canon 5dmk2, mainly in the Shinjuku area.

Music: "Main Titles" and "Blush Response" from Vangelis' haunting score.

airbag

Do people lose themselves because they don't have a home or a path to walk down?
Or is it because even though they have many places to go, there is not one person waiting for them there?

I need an airbag.
Before I crash into the colossal wall coming my way.

I need an airbag.
It's too late to avoid it.

graveyard of good intentions
I think it was from the sugar spree that I currently have the concentration of a petrified peanut which leads me onto my next point; analogies. Botched analogies especially. So the other day I slipped in a spontaneous analogy when talking to a work colleague about a customer but to my dismay and to their utter confusion the analogy came out quite, well, wrong. That is not to say the analogy didn't serve its purpose in explaining the customer had indecision problems but rather the analogy I used was so wrong and right at the same time. That got us thinking how often is it that something which sounds so right in our minds comes out unlike anything we initially thought of? I perchance came across a top 25 list of terrible/hilarious analogies and my shortlist is as follows:

1. Her face was a perfect oval, like a circle that had its two sides gently compressed by a ThighMaster.

2. The ballerina rose gracefully en Pointe and extended one slender leg behind her, like a dog at a fire hydrant.

3. John and Mary had never met. They were like two hummingbirds who had also never met.

Actually the entire list was a fantastic read and it's only made sweeter because I can completely relate. Metaphorical hats off to each individual!

perspective

1 person out of 7,000,000,000 people
on 1 of 8 planets
in 1 star system out of 100,000,000,000 star systems
in 1 galaxy out of 100,000,000,000 galaxies.

and yet He still cares.

Why?

mush

No posts since two weeks ago? What a travesty. It's okay I'm here to remedy that.

So last weekend I bought a slushie machine to explore the wonders of mixology but due to a full week I left the box in the corner until midday today. With high expectations of mixing up a signature drink in my favourite Y I thought I had the procedures down but little did I know.

To give you an understanding of how the machine works, there's a rotating cup on the inside and a concentric container (translucent blue part). Now you have to fill the metal cup with copious amounts of salt and ice and the drink mix on the outside. 30 minutes of classy bossanova (the ideal mixing music) later I was still wondering how the ice mixture in the metal cup was going to connect with the mixture and become a delicious pina colada. Cue an ape like troubleshoot as I peered in and out and around the machine with invisible question marks and the odd exclamation mark floating atop my head. Now I'm sure some of you have already figured out by now and am ESPing me taunts but I'll explain why it didn't work and why I am now drinking a very chilled but non-slushified drink which still tastes pretty damn fantastic I might add. Long story short the ice inside the cup had nothing to do with the mixture but rather it was just there to be cold enough to chill the mixture but not become it.

Mystery solved and in hindsight maybe the 2 caps of salt were quite obvious ..
