No posts since two weeks ago? What a travesty. It's okay I'm here to remedy that.

So last weekend I bought a slushie machine to explore the wonders of mixology but due to a full week I left the box in the corner until midday today. With high expectations of mixing up a signature drink in my favourite Y I thought I had the procedures down but little did I know.

To give you an understanding of how the machine works, there's a rotating cup on the inside and a concentric container (translucent blue part). Now you have to fill the metal cup with copious amounts of salt and ice and the drink mix on the outside. 30 minutes of classy bossanova (the ideal mixing music) later I was still wondering how the ice mixture in the metal cup was going to connect with the mixture and become a delicious pina colada. Cue an ape like troubleshoot as I peered in and out and around the machine with invisible question marks and the odd exclamation mark floating atop my head. Now I'm sure some of you have already figured out by now and am ESPing me taunts but I'll explain why it didn't work and why I am now drinking a very chilled but non-slushified drink which still tastes pretty damn fantastic I might add. Long story short the ice inside the cup had nothing to do with the mixture but rather it was just there to be cold enough to chill the mixture but not become it.

Mystery solved and in hindsight maybe the 2 caps of salt were quite obvious ..
